Do I provide details for my whole business?
Only provide data for the packaging products you supply to M&S in the declaration you receive. No information should be included for manufacturing sites or products that are not supplying M&S.
What are the information boundaries we should use for determining volumes?
All data is to be provided for products supplied to M&S between 01 January 2019 and 31 December 2019. The data should only relate to products supplied to M&S and not to your overall company procurement.
You should provide year-to-date (YTD) volume information in the first instance. Full year sales data will be updated in January 2020.
We have multiple sites within our group producing paper, card and fibre-based packaging. How should we report these figures?
You should only complete one declaration form on the online portal, to cover all your relevant sites and operations. Where multiple persons may be reporting information, you may use the declaration internally to collect data from various parts of the business, but this information should then be consolidated into a single final form to be submitted to 3Keel.
I haven’t supplied any products to M&S containing paper/card/wood fibre. Why have I received this form?
If you have not supplied M&S with any packaging products containing paper/card/wood fibre, please declare to 3Keel that you are out of scope for this exercise. No further action will be required once you have made this declaration and it has been accepted by M&S.
How do I submit the form and evidence?
The declaration form and supporting evidence will be completed and submitted through a web-based portal.
Please contact Data.Services@3Keel.com if you have any challenges submitting your response.
What information is required?
You need to provide the following information for your M&S packaging supplies which come from non M&S approved printers:
- Certification status (if applicable) of your company, manufacturing sites, and/or products.
- Timber tonnages purchased as virgin
or mixed sources
(if applicable) by your company that are used in the products you supply to
M&S. Data must include:
- Name of your direct supplier.
- Certification status of your supplier and/or the product.
- Species name, country and region of origin (virgin only).
- Forest management company (virgin only).
- Trading evidence through invoices (virgin only).
- Evidence of legal harvest (virgin only).
- Timber tonnages recycled (if applicable) by your company
that are used in the products you supply to M&S. Data must include:
- Name of your direct supplier.
- Evidence of recycling (e.g. certification).
What is the difference between ‘mixed’ timber and ‘recycled’ timber?
Mixed Timber – recycled and virgin material are both used (e.g. 75% recycled paper). These sources must be disclosed on both the ‘virgin and mixed’ and ‘recycled’ declaration pages as the origins of both are needed.
Recycled Timber – materials that have been recovered, processed, and reused from secondary market sources (i.e. not your own offcuts).
How far back in my supply chain do I need to provide information for?
For materials sourced from M&S approved packaging suppliers, you only need to confirm which suppliers you use. Otherwise, the following applies:
All virgin (including virgin material in mixed sources) timber must be traceable to plantation. In instances where M&S has a requirement for EUTR compliance responsibility, you must provide further information on each link between the forest and your manufacturing facility.
Recycled material requires only information on your direct supplier, however associated evidence will be required demonstrating that the material, and process, is consistent with the accepted definitions of ‘recycled’.
