Lidl have requested that you supply information on the total volume of cellulose-based packaging (primary and secondary) or ingredients across the own brand products you supply to all Lidl markets. It is necessary that this information is provided for each individual market that you supply and for each type of product/packaging you supply as well.

Lidl has also asked for the certification status of the materials to be provided.

Anything that is or contains wood, wood-based pulp, paper, or charcoal. This includes both products and packaging.

It is not necessary to provide details of the origin of the cellulose-based material or product, therefore no information regarding the tree or plant species is needed. The composition of the material does not need to be declared.

You will be required to report for the volume of cellulose-based materials supplied in your products supplied to each Lidl market.

Yes, you will need to report on all cellulose-based material present regardless of certification or recycled status. On the submission form you will be able to state if the material is certified and or recycled.

We will not be requesting you to report all of the products that are manufactured at different sites in a separate form. Within the submission you will need to add a “new item” for each separate product you supplied and each Lidl market.

For example, if you use the same type of cardboard-based packaging across multiple sites, you would only need to fill out one declaration for this type of packaging declaring the weight of the packaging used across all of those sites, and the product codes they are associated with.

Sales data. We recognise that there is almost always some wastage, so the amount of cellulose-based product you buy will always be a bit more than what you sell on in a final product.

Only provide data for the products that are supplied to the listed Lidl markets in the declaration.

If you supply multiple markets (e.g. UK and France), then you must separately declare the products supplied to each market.

No information should be reported for products that are not supplied to the named markets.

There is no threshold value for reporting. If you provide an own brand product to Lidl that contains any amount of cellulose-based material, then you will be required to report. This includes labels and swing tags. Secondary packaging is also in scope.

Regardless of whether you are a producer, trader or agent you are still required to report on the products you supply to any and all Lidl markets.

No, you will still need to report for any cellulose-based material regardless of size or volume, such as a paper sticker on plastic packaging. The reporting is regarding any wood or wood-derived materials present in your product including pulp, cardboard and paper.
